Level 5 Enchantment (Bard)

Casting Time: 1 minute

Range: Self

Component: V, S, M (a public gathering space occupied by at least 4 commoners)

Duration: 48 hours

You whisper a rumor into existence. You must be able to communicate this rumor within the casting time, and must spend this time gossiping with strangers in a public space. When the casting is complete, your rumor takes hold and begins to spread throughout your local area, passing form person to person through word of mouth, graffiti, town criers (if in an ancient setting), or social media (if in a modern setting), eventually becoming known to all creatures with an Intelligence score higher than 7 within a 1-mile Sphere, centered on the point the rumor was started.

When a creature hears the rumor for the first time, it may take the Study action to question the authenticity of the rumor. The creature can determine that the rumor is false with a successful Investigation check against your spell save DC. The rumor lasts for the Duration.

Stir Up The Crowds. Once before the spell ends, and while within the radius of the rumor, you can take a Magic Action to end the spell early and cause an Angry Mob to appear in an unoccupied space within 60 feet. The angry mob is friendly to you and your allies, but you do not have control of its actions. The mob is motivated by the content of the rumor you started, and will use its actions on each of its turns to seek justice or provide aid, as determined by the GM’s interpretation of your rumor.
