Spells

Unseen Pilot

1st-level Conjuration

Casting Time: 1 minute

Range: touch

Components: V, S, M (a vehicle that has physical controls, such as a helm)

Duration: 8 hours

Classes: Bard, Warlock, Wizard This spell creates an invisible, mindless, shapeless force that takes control of the helm of a vehicle, which you must be touching during the casting of the spell. The unseen pilot has AC 10, 1 hit point, and a Strength of 2.

As the verbal component of the spell, you designate a simple course of travel, such as “keep heading north,” or “follow that ship.” While the spell lasts, the unseen pilot maintains a steady course for the vehicle, following your verbal command to the best of its ability. The unseen pilot can make simple course corrections, such as avoiding an obstacle in the vehicle’s path, but cannot make complex maneuvers or strategic decisions. If it encounters an impassable obstacle or dangerous situation, it brings the vehicle safely to a stop and the spell ends early.

If you wish to change the vehicle’s course once the spell is cast, you must cast this spell again. The spell ends early if the unseen pilot drops to 0 hit points, or if you end it early as a bonus action.
